A Dreamy Mixed Berry Sauce

Mixed berry sauce is a versatile and delicious topping that can be used in so many delicious ways! You can drizzle it over pancakes, waffles, or French toast for a breakfast delight, or use it as a topping for vegan ice cream and other desserts.

Fruit is an essential component of a balanced vegan diet. It is an excellent source of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants that are necessary for overall health and well-being.

One of the biggest benefits of fruit is that it contains a wide range of nutrients that work together to support a healthy body. For example, many fruits are high in vitamin C, which is crucial for maintaining a healthy immune system and protecting the body from free radicals. Other fruits, such as bananas and oranges, are rich in potassium, which is important for regulating blood pressure and maintaining healthy heart function.

The ingredients leaves a little room for inerpretation as any combination of mixed berries will do.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, etc.)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the mixed berries, sugar, lemon juice, and water. Stir to combine.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the berries break down and the mixture becomes thick and syrupy, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool slightly.
  4. If desired, use an immersion blender or transfer the sauce to a blender and puree until smooth.
  5. Serve warm or at room temperature over ice cream, pancakes, waffles, cheesecake, or your favorite dessert.

Note: You can adjust the amount of sugar based on the sweetness of your berries and your personal taste preference. You can also add a pinch of salt or a splash of vanilla extract for extra flavor.
